Expert Tutoring for the SAT/ ACT

Planning to take the PSAT in the Fall? Designed primarily to be a "practice" SAT, the PSAT exam is an abridged version of its SAT counterpart.
The digital PSAT is administered in Georgia in mid-October of junior year. However, many sophomores (and some freshmen) may also take as a practice.
Scores are an excellent way to gauge how to prep for the SAT exam. And, top scorers of the PSAT can qualify for lucrative scholarship awards.
Contact BFF Tutoring for assistance on how to both prep for the PSAT and interpret the score reports (available in mid-November)

The SAT launched its new digital format in March 2024, featuring a shorter test, with more time per question.
The digital SAT is composed of 2 sections: Math and Reading/Writing (grammar and punctuation not an essay). Each section has 2 subsections called modules. The 2nd module's difficulty level will adjust, depending on a student's performance in the first module. The top score is 800 on each section. The composite score is the sum of the two sections, for a top score of 1600.
The SAT exam requires students to think analytically in reading, writing and math and to demonstrate an ability to interpret evidence to solve problems.
Questions are designed to mirror the problem-solving and modeling students will do in college math, science, and social science courses and future jobs.
Heavily focused on algebra, many SAT math questions will require several steps to solve. Compared to the ACT, the math topics, although narrower in scope, are at a higher level and require a deeper comprehension.

ACT EXAM
The ACT will be launching a new format, starting in Sept, 2025. The test is comprised of 4 sections: a reading test, a math test, an English test and an optional science test, with a top score of 36 in each section. The composite score is the average of the 3 sections (ex science).

The math questions include a broad range of challenging content, with a focus on student's ability to think and not just input on the calculator.
The multiple-choice questions require students to use reasoning skills to solve practical problems in math. With a heavier lean on trig and geometry (versus the SAT), students must know basic formulas (not provided) and computational skills.
